Drinking Water Quality and Supply

Citations

Data Sources

Municipal and utility reports for parameters, Health Canada guidelines for grades, and cited publications behind supply profiles.

Canada Water Quality reproduces published figures and cites the issuing municipality, utility, or federal guidance. It does not operate laboratories or invent missing lab values. Network-wide source lists also appear on openstats.ca/sources.

Parameter reports

Direct-tier hardness and chemistry come from municipal or utility annual reports and water quality summaries. The set below is illustrative of primary publishers; each city page footer names the dataset used for that municipality.

Supply profiles

Supply type, source waters, treatment plants, and distribution notes are researched from utility and municipal publications linked on each city page. Across the atlas, 172 cities have a supply profile; 172 of those currently carry outbound source links (130 high confidence, 42 medium, 0 low). Open any city under provinces and scroll to Supply and treatment for that place's citations.
